Malaysia—Truly Asia!

Malaysia is one of the countries with two capitals: Kuala Lumpur: Official and royal capital; seat of national legislature and Putrajaya: Administrative centre and seat of national judiciary.

Putrajaya is a planned city, 25 km south of Kuala Lumpur, that serves as the federal administrative centre of Malaysia.Putrajaya was the brainchild of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad. In 2001, Putrajaya became Malaysia’s third Federal Territory after Kuala Lumpur and Labuan. In Sanskrit, “putra” means “prince” or “male child”, and “jaya” means “success” or “victory”.

Batu Caves is a place where you should not miss on your next visit to Malaysia!Batu Caves is a an iconic and popular tourist attraction in Selangor. It is a site of a Hindu temple and shrine, and it attracts thousands of worshippers and tourists, especially during the annual Hindu festival, Thaipusam.

A limestone outcrop located just north of Kuala Lumpur, Batu Caves has three main caves featuring temples and Hindu shrines. Its main attraction is the large statue of the Hindu God at the entrance, besides a steep 272 climb up its steps to finally view the stunning skyline of the city centre.

Monkeys frolic around the caves, so watch out for your cameras and food items if any 🙂 😛 as they are forever hungry for clicks and  snacks. It is also a popular spot for rock climbing enthusiasts. Paintings and scenes of Hindu Gods can also be seen in the Ramayana Cave.

The Istana Negara (Malay for National Palace) along Jalan Istana was the former residence of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (Supreme King) of Malaysia. It stands on a 13 acre (50,000 m²) site, located on a commanding position on the slope of a hill of Bukit Petaling overlooking the Klang River, along Jalan Syed Putra.

The best part is that we can click photos on the gate and even with the guard.

Petronas Twin Towers

Petronas Towers

Petronas Towers

This 88-floor towers are constructed largely of reinforced concrete, with a steel and glass facade designed to resemble motifs found in Islamic art, a reflection of Malaysia’s Muslim religion.Another Islamic influence on the design is that the cross section of the towers is based on a Rub el Hizb, albeit with circular sectors added to meet office space requirements. They chose a distinctive postmodern style to create a 21st-century icon for Kuala Lumpur.

The Petronas Towers were the tallest buildings in the world for six years, until Taipei 101 was completed in 2004.Willis Tower (formerly known as Sears Tower) and the World Trade Center towers were each constructed with 110 occupied floors – 22 more than the 88 floors of the Petronas Towers.

Chinese Temple
There is a Chinese Temple named as The Thean Hou Temple with tortoise pond also. I found the architecture so amusing. There is an interesting fact about the temple which says the temple has no screw in its structures, it is all interlocked. The Chinese are famous for it in their building architecture.

The front entrance of the temple features a multi-arched gateway with red pillars, the colour symbolic of prosperity and good fortune. Souvenir stalls and a canteen are found on the 1st level. The 2nd level houses the multi-purpose hall while offices are located on the 3rd level. The 4th level has 3 tiers and the prayer hall is located here.
