On all the hill stations you would have seen interesting statements on the road signs uphill or downhill but Leh stands out in this competition. While searching for the road signs I came across a site, which had all the information on signs. You can check it out here — http://ladakhroadsigns.com/
So lets resume our discovery:
Stop 1: Shanti Stupa
Of the 35 Shanti Stupas all over the world, this one is quite peculiar. Its architecture is different from Ladakhi style.A Peace Pagoda is a Buddhist stupa; a monument to inspire peace, designed to provide a focus for people of all races and creeds, and to help unite them in their search for world peace. This stupa is illuminated with lights at night and looks very beautiful.I had the pleasure of meeting the creator of this Shanti Stupa: Gyomyo Nakamura.
The Leh Valley view from the top looks awesome. And here is a proof.:P
There was this cricket ground and which was inaugurated by ?? Guess who!

Next Stop: Rancho’s School or Druk Pema School
This school has seen lows and highs, it was washed away by a cloud burst which led to flash floods in August 2010.Inspired by the vision of His Holiness the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa, spiritual leader of Ladakh, the school aimed to provide a modern education for Ladakhi children — an education grounded in their own culture and which could prepare them to lead happy and productive lives. Residential blocks allow children from Ladakh’s remote areas to attend and a programme of sponsorship ensures that the poorest are not excluded. It is managed by the Druk Pema Karpo Educational Society and funded by international aid
Next Stop: Pangong Tso Lake
The first time I heard of it was when I saw the movie “Three Idiots” where the climax scene of the movie was shot. But when I actually went there I was stunned and forgot all about that movie and was mesmerized with the view. The best time to visit would be when the Sun is shining and there are no clouds. The colour of the water would be deep blue and the sky and mountains complement so well, making a perfect landscape and I chose this picture earlier for my post on #landscapegape too!.. https://clickbychance.com/2014/09/24/landscapegape/
The lake is in the process of being identified under the Ramsar Convention as a wetland of international importance. This will be the first trans-boundary wetland in South Asia under the convention. The lake acts as an important breeding ground for a variety of birds including a number of migratory birds.
